Jewish Prominence in the World: Pride, Caution, and Wisdom

“And you shall be to me a special treasure out of all the peoples…” (Exodus 19:5)

In a rapidly changing world, where religious and ethnic identities are intermingling or being undermined
some Jews prefer to blend in and disappear into the background, and there are those who choose to proudly
display their Jewishness. They march with a kippah, a tzitzit, a Star of David hanging around their neck, or
Jewish content in their profile. Is this blessed pride or dangerous naivety? What is important to know when
a Jew chooses to display his or her Jewishness in the world – especially today?

Being Jewish is not just who we are – it is also how we are.
